The Ripple Effect -- Help Someone Else Out, Too
Drop a stone into a still pond. Rings of water radiate outward. The rest of the water and the pond's edges are affected, even if in a tiny way. So too are we mutually touched by what happens to one another. Those distant from us geographically and/or culturally benefit from what we do right here at home. This is how we see it. Our patients and clients seek out our services and products. In receiving these, they benefit. Our business is compensated for providing those benefits. A portion of that compensation supports our infrastructure and the personnel who work within.
Another portion of that compensation is reserved for those whom our patients and guests may well never know. Those people are the unfortunate, isolated children and adults overseas with facial and other deformities from birth defects, infection, trauma, burns and cancer. They know only of the anguish of disfigurement and the social and emotional disdain and isolation which that brings.
One of our greatest satisfactions is that of coming to the aid of those unfortunate people. On a gratis basis, we reconstruct their faces and other body sites. We then counsel them toward a renewed experience of living.
Thus, we all become agents of restoration and healing globally, by the support locally of our patients and clients, the vital facilitators of such work. Everyone wins, and for the right reasons.
The stone drops into the pond. Ripples spread outward. What a wonderful world this is.
